Overview: The Lord does battle against wickedness, therefore look to His banner Why are the Amalekites attacking? (8, Num. 24:20, 1 Sam 30:1-2, 20, Gen. 14:7, 36:12, 27:39-40) Why is this the battle plan? (9a, 10a) Why is Moses up on the hill? (9b, 10b-11, 15, c.f. 4, Is. 5:26, 11:12, 49:22) It isn’t about Moses or Joshua: the battle is the Lord’s (12, 15-16a, Is 11:10, 12, c.f. Heb. 13:21, Col. 1:29, 2 Cor. 10:5) There are still enemies (14, 16b, 1 Cor. 15:25-26)
