Overview: What does the Sabbath do? The Sabbath is God’s gift of rest and refreshment to His Creation (20:11, 31:17, Gen. 1:27) It’s for necessity and mercy and delight (John 5:5-9, 17, Luke 4:16, 13:11-17, 14:2-5, Heb. 10:25, Matt. 12:1) → It puts your work in perspective. (Demands, Dignifies, Delimits) (9, 11a, 2 Thess. 3:6-10) And to guard this, God commanded our earthly masters do this (10b, 23:12, Deut. 5:14b) → It puts your works in perspective. (Mark 2:24, 3:2-5, Ex. 31:13, Ez. 20:20, Heb. 4:9-10) It is a delight, made for you (Isaiah 58:13-14; Mark 2:27)
